This week’s interview is with Sarah Brown from Western Desert Dialysis – the Purple House.
Sarah talks about the Purple House’s response to the announcement in Parliament by the Minister for SA Health, the Hon Jack Snelling, that his Department now supports having a permanent dialysis facility in Ernabella Pukatja on the APY Lands.
In June 2015, the Purple House in Alice Springs was allocated money by the Commonwealth Government to build a dialysis facility in Ernabella/Pukatja. The Purple House then submitted a business case to the South Australia Department of Health in October 2015. More than a year since the Commonwealth Government announced the allocation of funding, the SA Minister for Health has indicated that SA Health is now in a position to enter into a formal agreement with the Purple House and an MOU with the Nganampa Health Council and Purple House.
Sarah lets us know about the next steps and the fundraising that the Purple House is doing in order to pay for the running costs for the first year of the Ernabella Pukatja dialysis facility’s operations.
