Bob Smith, Manager Community Patrols Program

This week’s Paper Tracker program includes the first part of an interview recorded on 10th July 2015 with Mr Bob Smith, the Manager of the new Community Patrols Program.

Bob lets us know about this new Community Patrols Program that has been funded by the Federal Government for three years. He first gives us a brief history of various night patrol programs that have been attempted in the past and then goes on to talk about the new initiative, which will be developed with the participation of six Anangu communities. He explains the nature of the training that will be provided and how the Program will be coordinated and run.

He gives us an overview of the equipment, vehicles and the coordination base in each community. A key principle of the Program is community participation and engagement, based on the needs and issues in each community.
