Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are temporary changes that now apply to the Community Development Program (CDP), the remote work-for-the-dole program.
Mutual Obligation requirements for people who are in the Community Development Program (CDP) have been lifted until 22 May 2020. Please check with your CDP provider as this date may change, depending on the degree of COVID-19 restrictions at that time.
In order to encourage social distancing, work-for-the-dole requirements for face-to-face services with CDP service providers have been suspended. CDP Providers have been instructed not to deliver services face- to-face, such as CDP activities and appointments.
People on the CDP and on programmes such as Jobseeker, will not be required to fulfil mutual obligations. CDP service providers will not apply any job seeker compliance requirements, such as financial penalties, while the restrictions are in place.
Appointments and other services will still be available to job seekers via phone or online, through videoconferencing or other arrangements that do not require face-to-face contact. These appointments are voluntary and CDP job seekers will not be penalised for not attending.
This means that CDP participants (including new job seekers) are not required to attend the following:
- CDP activities
- Hosted activities.
However, CDP job seekers still need to report to Centrelink as normal in order to receive income support payments. This includes reporting any income/hours worked.
For the latest information, participants should contact their CDP provider.
