In January 2013, Ian Hunter became South Australia’s new Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation.
In this interview, Minister Hunter talks about growing up in Adelaide, what he was doing before entering Parliament and recalls the first time he visited some South AustralianĀ Anangu communities.
The conversation then turns to the importance of recognising Aboriginal people in South Australia’s constitution and how Ministerial visits and community consultations should be conducted on Anangu lands.
In the second half of the interview, Minister Hunter discusses some of his other ministerial responsibilities, government efforts to bolster the State’s economy, andĀ an upcoming call for new appointments to the State’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee.
