Aboriginal Lands Trust

The Aboriginal Lands Trust is a statutory body established under the Aboriginal Lands Trust Act 1966 (SA).

The Aboriginal Lands Trust holds the title to more than 60 properties in South Australia, including Umoona and Yalata communities. In general, Aboriginal communities hold the title to their lands under a 99-year lease arrangement from the Trust.

Each year the South Australian Government allocates funding to enable the Aboriginal Lands Trust to carry out its statutory functions.

In November 2008, the South Australian Government commenced a comprehensive review of the Aboriginal Lands Trust Act 1966.
